Many of us reach a point where we realize something in our lives needs to change. And since we can’t change others, it often means it’s time for us to change.

We may not always put it this way, but it’s clear: continuing to operate within old behavioral patterns, many formed in childhood, isn’t sustainable for personal fulfillment or the growth required for the evolution of humanity. Our nervous system’s original design, shaped by survival instincts, has formed a personality that must by it’s protective design, resist thriving, growth, and regeneration.

In short, most nervous systems aren’t equipped to support the life and world we all truly want and deserve. They lack the neuro-structure to carry a new program, even if it were available. This isn’t because we’ve done something wrong; it’s simply that no one around us had the tools to help us develop these abilities. It’s as if we’re waking up from a cultural malaise, realizing there’s has to be a better way.

I know this from experience. As they say, people teach what they need most to learn. The key is that shifting our self-perception automatically shifts how we perceive others. Our nervous systems are formed within the social contexts of family, school, religion, etc. and when we start attending to our emotional fascia, the outer world begins to reflect this change. These are the threads that we have to face and continue to work through. The shift being asked of us today is one of self-awareness that acknowledges our inner world, not just the outer authority we’ve been historically beholden to. Our inner landscape denied in the sake of “progress,” holds so much untapped potential, which we’ve often repressed or disconnected from to feel safe and belong. But if there’s one thing clear right now, it’s that we need to step outside the lines, without being ruled by fear, chaos, or destructive stories that have kept many of us from questioning outdated systems.
